| ― Captain Koons to a young Butch Coolidge |
Captain Koons is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside The Wolf) who briefly appears in the 1994 film Pulp Fiction. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Koons was imprisoned at the same North Vietnamese prison camp as Major Coolidge, Butch's father.
He was portrayed by Christopher Walken, who also played Vincenzo Coccotti in True Romance.
While explaining the golden watch's history to Butch, Koons explained that Major Coolidge viewed the watch as his son's birthright and explained the major's desire to keep the watch away from their Vietnamese captors. Captain Koons hid the watch, a family heirloom dating back to World War I, in his rectum for two years while in Vietnam and for another seven years after returning home.
