Max Cherry is a main character in Elmore Leonard novel Rum Punch and its 1997 Quentin Tarantino film adaptation Jackie Brown. He is a bail bondsman and he owns Max Cherry's Bail Bonds. He and Jackie Brown become good friends in the film.
He was portrayed by the late Robert Forster.

- Tarantino considered Paul Newman, Gene Hackman and John Saxon for the role of Max Cherry, before casting Robert Forster.[1]
- Tarantino chose Forster to be Max Cherry after seeing him in the sci fi-horror film Alligator (1980).
