O.B. Jackson is a character played by James Parks in Quentin Tarantino's eighth film The Hateful Eight. He is a stagecoach driver.

The Plot

He is initially tasked with transporting John Ruth and Daisy Domergue to Red Rock, so the latter can be executed for her crimes. However, his plans change when a blizzard edges closer to their path, forcing him to make a stop at Minnie’s Haberdashery.

Along the way to the haberdashery, he encounters Major Marquis Warren, who is out stranded in the cold with his deceased bounties. Warren requests to hitch a ride, but O.B. hesitantly declines, due to Ruth’s wishes for privacy. However, he eventually lets him aboard with Ruth’s approval, being promised extra pay if he helps Warren lug his bounties on the stagecoach. Further into their travels, they encounter Sheriff Chris Mannix, who gives his firearm to O.B. for Ruth’s peace of mind.

Upon arrival to the haberdashery, he helps to unhitch his horses, and shelter them in a nearby stable with Mannix. He eventually ends up meeting with the rest of his party inside, cursing the door while nailing it shut.

While inside, O.B. mostly keeps to himself, but his solitude is often interrupted by other demands (which lead to him going out into the cold time and time again). Warren offers extra pay to him, asking if he can help him secure his bounties outside by stashing them away. Ruth’s uneasiness of the situation leads to him confiscating most of the residents’ weapons, who then asks O.B. to venture out into the cold to dispose of them in the outhouse. O.B. does so, and returns from the blizzard cold and angry, cursing at Ruth and renouncing the idea of going back out into the cold “ever, EVER again.” He grabs a fur blanket and shivers his way over to the fireplace, before eventually getting up and grabbing some stew of his own.

When General Sanford Smithers is killed by Warren, the residents decide to draw straws to decide who will help Joe Gage relocate his body. O.B. loses and goes out into the cold once more.

Upon returning back into the haberdashery, the very cold O.B. makes a beeline for the hot coffee pot alongside Ruth, both unaware that the brew has been poisoned (by Gage). He downs the deadly brew, and begins to light various candles and lamps up on the shelf nearby as the poison waits to take effect.

The poison takes effect on Ruth first, causing him to vomit bloody fluids on the table. O.B. sees this, and immediately throws up blood as well. While a very enraged Ruth attacks Domergue, a very unhappy O.B. succumbs to the poison, all while continuously vomiting blood.

His death is eventually avenged by Warren and Mannix, who kill Gage in a later chapter. His body likely remained in the haberdashery until a future discovery, as there were no survivors.
