Clem first appears in the film, laying on a couch in George Spahn's house while watching TV with a couple of other cultists, when Rick Dalton's stunt double, Cliff Booth drives Pussycat, a hitchhiking member of the Manson Family to the Spahn Rach. When Cliff approches the house of George Spahn to visit him despite the cultists saying him that he shouldn't do it, Dianne "Snake" Lake sees that and warns her fellow cultist about it. Another cult member, Squeaky tells the rest of the hippies to leave the apartment. When Cliff walks to the door, Clem is seen exiting the house. After the stuntman's visit with Spahn ends, he walks out the house and heads to his car while Pussycat and other members of Manson's cult yell at him. When he arrives, Cliff finds a knife in the car's tire placed there by Grogan. After he sees him, Booth gets another tire from the trunk and orders him to change it. When Clem refuses, Cliff proceeds to beat him and tosses him into the car's side. After that, Steve finally starts changing the tire. When Tex is informed about the accident, he rides there on a horse to deal with the stuntman but when he arrives, Cliff is seen driving off the ranch.

It is unknown what happened to Clem afterwards. He most likely recovered from his injuries.
